 CACC Graduate Named Top Welder in the Nation

An Alexander City native recently became the first woman in history to take top honors in welding at the Associated Builders and Contractors, Inc. National Craft Championship.

Holley Thomas placed first in the welding category of the 60th anniversary of the competition. Read More

Lake Martin Area......
Named Expansion Solutions "2008 Award of Excellence in High Technology"

     The Lake Martin Area has been selected as one of the five national recipients of Expansion Solution Magazine's 2008 Award of Excellence in High Technology. The award recognizes areas that have made exceptional progress and potential in the development of their areas, by successfully recruiting, retaining and growing businesses. 
     The Lake Martin Area Economic Development Alliance was formed in 1998, and in that short time it has brought diverse businesses with millions of dollars in capital investment to the community. One most recent company designs and builds unique airship platforms for use in many areas including surveillance, the military and wireless communications. In 2008 the Lake Martin Area brought in a combined cycle power generation plant and two automotive suppliers. In addition to these recent additions we have also located one other automotive company and a wire harness producer for the auto and medical industry.
     The future is bright for the lake Martin area because of the intese ability of the community leaders to come together to accomplish their goal of a better community through industrial diversity with an emphasis on the high-tech jobs.
